High-end gardening lawn service. Elevating your experience.

UX/UI Product Designer and User Researcher

11/2023 - 1/2024

  • Diego, CEO of Jardinier, a high-end gardening startup, has thrived on word-of-mouth referrals. Now, poised for global expansion, he seeks to elevate his brand through exclusive partnerships. Despite a mock website, underwhelming analytics prompt Diego to rectify any shortcomings. His mission? To ensure prospective clients feel exceptionally valued, prioritized, and esteemed. Diego aims to imbue a sense of exclusivity, treating their time as invaluable and making them feel part of an elite enclave offering unparalleled services.

  • Initiated by leveraging AI to curate optimal color schemes and exploring alternative methods that embody both minimalism and sophistication. An inviting landing page serves as a digital handshake, captivating users from the outset. Presenting a portfolio of past projects, complemented by a clear and compelling call-to-action, anchors their attention. By harnessing preliminary user research and compiled feedback, the aim is to elevate and refine the user experience significantly. The ultimate goal? Crafting a website that extends a warm welcome akin to a butler, guiding users into an immersive experience, revealing the possibilities and essence of what they could embrace.

  • User research is fundamental to good UX/UI design. I had to constantly view through the eyes of everyone that will use the product. To account for everyone is impossible, however with the help of selected demographics and feedback, I could generate a persona. This persona will set the bar for the standard to which the design needs to be held.

  • To create a complete and full user experience, I needed to branch out by pulling from different resources. Among the many, the chief of them were:

    • Figma

    • Unsplash

    • Giphy

    • ChatGPT

    • Scrum and Agile Methodologies

  • Iteration is just another step along the design process. After completing the wireframes and Lo/HI Fidelity prototypes, I was ready to put my designs under the scrutiny of a usability study. This allows for immensely useful information about the direction the design is heading, allowing you to make adjustments back toward the original problem statement and persona.

  • Successes and failures are both essential. Over the course of this design, there were three key successes:

    • The final design was the factor of a culmination of user feedback. Using heatmaps as well as usability studies, I was able to empirically gather data sets to help me place CTAs

    • I learned how to record, create and upload media to make gifs, allowing for a more entertaining experience.

    • Finally and the most important, the problem statement was successfully answered. Receiving feedback such as “This website looks great!” (Sarah) and “I love how minimalist and effective it feels…the landing page is smart and effective and it was clear what I needed to do..” (Mitch) solidifes the end result.

User Research 🔍

Below is the persona that epitomizes all the user research data. This is our target demographic/audience.

To aid in the design process, we need to see what the journey would look like for our persona.

Usability Study ✒

  • Details the 3 tasks that I was testing my users against

  • Level of overall difficulty for the 3 tasks

  • Empirical data points that give an overall score for the test

The iteration below, is my original idea. To have an overlay explaining the 3 subjects. However, I did not like how the overlays came from beyond the screen.

To answer my dilemma, I decided to conduct some user research. Based on the pool I interviewed. They preferred the following design choice. To have the overlays dissolve over the categories.

Unique Iterations

The adjacent heat map and usability studies below guided me on my journey to creating the fully functional and immersive website design

Here is the final product! Feel free to explore the intuitive and user friendly design, for Jardinier!

Have a project in mind? I would love to hear from you!
